horseshoe bat

A bat of the family Rhinolophidae (genus: Rhinolophus, 68 species), worldwide except for the New World; nose shaped like a horseshoe with an upward pointing flap (nose leaf). Rhinonicteris aurantius (family: Hipposideridae) is called the golden horseshoe bat.
