House of Representatives

In the USA, one of the two chambers of the bicameral legislature, in which, under the constitution, federal legislative power is vested. The 435 members of the House are elected from single member constituencies of approximately the same population size, although each state has at least one representative. All revenue bills must originate in the House.

"The House of Representatives" is the name of the lower house of the legislature in the following countries:

In Indonesia, the Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) is generally known in English as the "House of Representatives", as is the Dewan Rakyat of the Parliament of Malaysia.
