Writer, born in Houston, Texas, USA. He studied at the University of Southwest Louisiana (19557), and the University of Missouri (1959 BA; 1960 MA). He worked as a surveyor, reporter, social worker, teacher, and for the US Forest Service and the Job Corps Conservation Center in Kentucky. A writer of short stories and novels, he is best known for his series of mystery novels featuring his Cajun police detective, Dave Robicheaux, as in A Stained White Radiance (1992).
James Lee Burke (born December 5, 1936) is an American author best known for his mysteries, particularly the Dave Robicheaux series.
Burke was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up on the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast.
Burke and his wife, Pearl, split their time between Missoula, Montana and New Iberia, Louisiana.
