Allan Cunningham

Botanist and explorer, born in London, UK. He became clerk to the curator of Kew Gardens, and plant collector for Sir Joseph Banks, first in Brazil, then in New South Wales (1816), where he worked for 15 years. His writings and most of his collections are preserved at Kew, and many indigenous Australian trees now bear his name.
