Jane Loevinger

Psychologist, born in St Paul, Minnesota, USA. She studied at the universities of Minnesota and California, Berkeley (1944 PhD), and then joined the department of psychology at Washington University, St Louis, as an instructor in statistics (1946) and became a research associate at its school of medicine (1960). Her research into the psychology of ego development resulted in many publications, including Measuring Ego Development (2 vols, 1970, with Ruth Wessler and Carolyn Redmore).
