Actress and pop singer, born in the Bronx, New York City, USA. She trained as a dancer and gained a part in the television comedy sketch series In Living Color (19903). She went on to co-star in the feature film Money Train (1995) and took the title role in Selena (1997). Later films include Out of Sight (1998), The Wedding Planner (2001), Shall We Dance? (2004), and Monster-in-Law (2005). Also a successful recording artist, her hit albums include J-Lo (2001) and This is Me... Then (2002). She topped the UK singles charts in 2005 with Get Right from the album Rebirth.
