Johannes Mario Simmel

Writer, born in Vienna, Austria. He worked as an interpreter, translator, and journalist before becoming a full-time writer. A prolific author of bestsellers, his novel Es muss nicht immer Kaviar sein (1960) was his first success, and he has since sold millions of books worldwide, many of which have been filmed. He has also written filmscripts and books for older children.

Johannes Mario Simmel (born April 7, 1924) is an Austrian writer.

He was born in Vienna and grew up in Austria and England. After the end of the war, he worked as a translator for the American military government and published reviews and stories in the Vienna Welt am Abend.

He has written a number of novels and screenplays.

He has won numerous prizes, including the Award of Excellence of the Society of Writers of the UN.
