Footballer, born in Kingston, Jamaica. A winger, he joined Watford in 1981, moving to Liverpool in 1988, to Newcastle United in 1997, and on loan to Charlton Athletic in 1998. He then joined Kenny Dalglish at Celtic Football Club as team coach (19992000). A brilliant solo goal against Brazil in a friendly in 1984 launched his international career, and he went on to win 79 caps for England, making him England's highest capped black football player. He was voted Football Writers' Association Player of the Year (1988, 1990), and the PFA Player's Player of the Year (1988). Since retirement he has become a successful football sports presenter for ITV.
