Jonjo O'Neill

National Hunt jockey, born in Castletownroche, Co Cork, S Ireland. Following an unsuccessful spell in the stable of Sir Gordon Richards, he became freelance and concentrated on the National Hunt. He twice became champion jockey (1977–8, 1979–80), riding 148 winners in one season, and retired with a total of 885 winners. In 1990 he began a career as a trainer and has had many successes.

Jonjo O'Neill (19 April 1953) is an Irish jockey and trainer of racehorses for the National Hunt. He is based at the Jackdaws Castle training establishemnt in England and is the private trainer to Mr. J.P. O'Neill was twice the Champion Jockey (NH) of Britain and won the Cheltenham Gold Cup on the famous mare, Dawn Run which became the only horse to complete the double of winning the Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.
