Physicist, born in Lund, E Sweden, the son of Manne Siegbahn. He studied at Stockholm, was professor of physics at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, until 1954, then moved to Uppsala University. He devised the technique of ESCA (electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis), and also worked on the related technique of ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy. He shared the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1981.
Kai Manne Börje Siegbahn (born April 20, 1918) is a Swedish physicist. He shared the 1981 Nobel Prize in Physics with Nicolaas Bloembergen and Arthur Schawlow for their work in spectroscopy. Siegbahn developed techniques for chemical analysis using high-resolution electron spectroscopy.
His father Manne Siegbahn won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1924.
