Koror - Tourism

7°21N 134°31E, pop (2000e) 12 900. Capital town of Belau, W Pacific Ocean, on Koror I; airport on neighbouring island of Babeldoab; tuna, copra, boatbuilding; Belau National Museum.

Koror is the state comprising the main commercial center of the country of Palau.

The state of Koror (population 14,000 as of 2004) contains about 90% of the population of the country.

The island of Koror is connected by bridges to two neighboring islands:

Ngerekebesang Island, the site of Palau's second-largest town, Meyuns, in the eastern part of the island, with a population of 1,200.

Koror Island is also connected by a bridge to the state of Airai in the island of Babeldaob, where Palau's international airport is located.

Besides the former capital, Koror, and the town of Meyuns, there are a total of 11 villages in the state of Koror:

Ngermid, Ngerkesowaol, Ngerchemai, Iyebukel, Idid, Meketii, Dngeronger, Ikelau, Medalaii, Ngerbeched, Meyuns

Tourism

There are 22 hotels and 8 motels.
