Law Society - See also

The professional body for solicitors in England and Wales; a separate Law Society exists for Scotland and another for Northern Ireland. The Law Societies have disciplinary powers relating to solicitors' conduct, and prescribe the rules governing their admission to practice. More generally, the Societies promote the interests of the profession as a whole, as seen in their attempts to secure greater rights for their members to be heard in the courts (rights of audience). In England and Wales the Law Society is also responsible for examining intending solicitors, and organizes training through the College of Law and recognized universities.
