Actress, born in Paris, France. After acting in the Comédie Francaise she appeared in a number of popular films opposite Jean Gabin. She went on to become one of the most popular stars in the 1960s, appearing in La Proie pour l'ombre (1961, director A Astruc) and Vivre pour vivre (1967, director Claude Lelouch). Later films include Le Cavaleur (1979, director Philippe de Broca) and Les Misérables (1995, director Claude Lelouch).
Annie Girardot (born 25 October 1931 in Paris) is a French actress.
She won the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti in 1956, and in 1977 won the César Award for Best Actress portraying the title character in Docteur Françoise Gailland. In 2002 she was awarded the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in La Pianiste. The strength of her acting overcomes Alain Delon's weak Rocco, and she's clearly believable as a woman whose remote beauty drives a wedge between Rocco and his older brother, Simone (played with a mix of bewitched simplicity and total depravity by Renato Salvatori).
The 21 September 2006 issue of French magazine Paris Match revealed that she is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
