Michel Jazy

Athlete, born in Oignies, N France. He won a silver medal in the 1500 m in the Rome Olympics in 1960 and broke nine world records over five different distances; the mile, 2000 m, 3000 m, 2 miles, and 4 x 1500 m. He was twice European champion; in 1962 over 1500 m and in 1966 over 5000 m. He is one of the most outstanding post-war French athletes.

Michel Jazy (born June 13, 1936 in Oignies) is a former French middle distance runner who won the silver medal over 1500 m at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.
