Antar

Arab poet and warrior, born of a Bedouin chieftain and a black slave near Medina, W Saudi Arabia. The author of one of the seven Golden Odes of Arabic literature, and the subject of the 10th-c Romance of Antar, he is regarded as the model of Bedouin heroism and chivalry.
