A breed of horse, developed naturally in the New Forest, Hampshire, England, from many breeds roaming the area; classed as two types: Type A (height, 1213·2 hands/1·21·4 m/4 ft4 ft 6 in) and the more solid Type B (height, 13·214·2 hands/1·41·5 m/4 ft 6 in4 ft 10 in).
The New Forest Pony is one of the recognised nine Mountain and Moorland or Native pony breeds of the British Isles, valued for its hardiness, strength and sureness of foot.
Colour
The New Forest pony may be any colour except piebald, skewbald or blue-eyed cream.
Type
New Forest ponies should be of riding type with substance.
Temperament
The New Forest Pony has an ideal temperament and should be very easy to train.
