Antonio Segni

Italian politician, prime minister (1955–7, 1959–60), and president (1962–4), born in Sassari, Sardinia, Italy. He was a member of the Christian Democrat Party and a deputy in the Constituent Assembly. As agriculture minister (1946–51), he was responsible for the land reform scheme (1949). He held a number of ministerial posts and was twice prime minister. President of the republic in 1962, he was forced to resign in 1964 with serious health problems.

Antonio Segni (February 2, 1891, Sassari – December 1, 1972) was twice Prime Minister of Italy (1955-1957, 1959-1960).
