Any children from the marriage have the personal title of Prince or Princess of Orange-Nassau and follow their mother in line to the throne. He carries out duties in a number of national and international organizations and charities.

Pieter van Vollenhoven is the chairman of the Transport Safety Board, the National Road Safety Fund, the Society, Safety and Police Association, the Victim Support Fund, the Advisory Council of the National Victim Support Association, the International Transport Safety Board, the National Restoration Fund, the Green Fund, and is a member of the European Transport Safety Council.
In 1986 Mr van Vollenhoven formed a trio - De Gevleugelde Vrienden - with two of the country's leading pianists and gave some twenty concerts a year both at home and abroad in aid of the Victim Support Fund.
