Richard Haynes

Lawyer, born in Houston, Texas, USA. Tough if short, shrewd if flamboyant (dubbed ‘Racehorse’ by a coach), he excelled in jury selection and became a legendary criminal defence attorney in Houston. He wrote Blood and Money (1970), the true story of a plastic surgeon accused of murdering his wife. His celebrated trials include that of oil tools heir, T Cullen Davis, in 1979.

Richard "Racehorse" Haynes (born April 3, 1927) is a criminal defense attorney. TIME magazine once referred to him as one of the top six criminal lawyers in America. A native of Houston, Texas, he graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 1956. He has been involved in landmark cases such as The State of Texas v.

Mr. Haynes is still practicing law out of Houston, Texas, with his law partner, Walter A. Boyd, III, at the firm Haynes, Boyd, and Associates, P.C.
