Sculptor, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He studied at Chicago (19337), worked as an industrial designer (193741), moved to New York City (1944), then settled in Locust Valley, NY. He is known for his constructed wire sculptures, as in Variation Number 7: Full Moon (1950).
Richard Lippold (3 May 1915–22 August 2002) was an American sculptor, known for his geometric constructions using wire as a medium. He has many famous works, two of which reside in the Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in the heart of New York City, New York. The 14th and 15th of John Cage's famous cycle of sonatas for prepared piano are subtitled 'After Richard Lippold.'
