A flattened, disk-like sea urchin found burrowing in soft sediments of shallow tropical and temperate seas; tubular feet arranged in a petal-like pattern on the upper body surface, serving a respiratory function; c.130 living species. (Class: Echinoidea. Order: Clypeasteroida.)
