A term used to describe a two-dimensional view in an architectural or engineering drawing, which reveals the internal structure of the subject of the drawing. The object is drawn as if cut through by an imaginary plane with the part between the observer and the cutting plane removed. The angle at which the plane cuts the object is chosen to reveal the desired detail.
