Seria

4º39N 114º40E, pop (2002e) 23 200. Town in Belait district, W Brunei, SE Asia; located SW of Bandar Seri Begawan; rich oil reserves were discovered here (1929) and commercial production began in 1932; a tanker terminal for the export of crude oil opened in 1972; gas turbine plant.

Recreational activities in Seria are mostly limited to country clubs (Panaga and the Brunei Shell Recreation Club). There are a total of five cinemas in Brunei, one of which is a single screen theatre -- although no longer in operation -- located in Seria. Now there is one cinema located in Seria which is under Brunei Shell Petroleum called OGDC cinema.

The largest shopping centre in Seria is the Seria Plaza, which has CD/DVD/Game shops, clothing shops, a basement supermarket, etc.
