Sir Edmund (Ronald) Leach - Bibliography

Social anthropologist, born in Sidmouth, Devon, SW England, UK. He studied mathematics and engineering at Cambridge, and anthropology at the London School of Economics. After the war he took up a post in anthropology at the London School of Economics (1947–53), and published his first major monograph, Political Systems of Highland Burma (1954). He then taught at Cambridge (1957–78), becoming professor in 1972, and provost of King's College (1966–79). His other publications include Rethinking Anthropology (1961) and Social Anthropology (1982).

Sir Edmund Ronald Leach (November 7, 1910 – January 6, 1989) was a British social anthropologist. He was provost of King's College, Cambridge from 1966-1979, was made a Fellow of the British Academy in 1972 and knighted in 1975.
