Theodor Waigel

German politician and lawyer, born Oberrohr bei Günzburg, S Germany. A member of the Bundestag since 1972, he became chairman of the Christlich Soziale Union (CSU) Landesgruppe (19829) and first deputy chairman of the Christlich-Demokratische Union (CDU)/CSU coalition in the Bundestag. He also served as minister of finance (Apr 1989Oct 1998).

Theodor Waigel (born April 22, 1939) is a German politician of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria party.

He was federal Finance minister from 1989-1998 under Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
