thrift

A densely tufted perennial (Armeria maritima), woody at base, native to Europe; leaves grass-like, bluish-green; flowers pink, scented, in long-stalked, hemispherical heads; also called sea pink. It is a mainly coastal plant, occasionally found inland. (Family: Plumbaginaceae.)
