bonito

Medium-sized tuna widely distributed in open ocean surface waters, living in compact schools; length up to 90 cm/3 ft; body steel blue to olive dorsally, with oblique black stripes, sides silver to yellow; important commercially and prized as sport fish. (Genus: Sarda. Family: Scombridae.)
