brent goose

A goose native to the N hemisphere, also known as brant (Branta bernicla); breeds in the high Arctic; migrates to temperate N coasts in winter; eats primarily the marine grass Zostera; unusually for geese, rarely nests in captivity if caught. (Family: Anatidae.)
