Callisto (astronomy)

The fourth natural satellite of Jupiter, discovered in 1610 by Galileo; distance from the planet 1 883 000 km/1 170 00 mi; diameter 4800 km/3000 mi; orbital period 16·689 days. Its dark surface is a mixture of ice and rocky material, and is heavily cratered.
