Centralia

Town in SC Illinois, USA; the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad laid out Centralia as a city in 1852, and has served as an important transportation and service centre since a regular train service began (1853); birthplace of David H Blackwell; oil discovered, 1938; Lake Centralia oilfield was the largest in the US in 1940; Centralia House (c.1850); Hot Air Balloon Fest (Aug).
