Artist, born in Dunvant, Swansea, SC Wales, UK. He studied at Swansea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, holding his first one-man show at Swansea (1930). Influenced by the Surrealists, he joined the London Group (1937), then taught at Chelsea School of Art (194555), the Slade School of Art (195661), and the Royal College (19612). He also designed opera sets, stained-glass windows, and vestments.
Ceri Richards (1903 - November 9, 1971), was a Welsh painter.
Richards was born in Swansea, but after studying art in his home town, he won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art and spent most of his life in London, apart from a period teaching art in Cardiff. One of the high points of his career was the Venice Biennale of 1962, where he was a prizewinner.
