East Sea

area 978 000 km²/378 000 sq mi. Arm of the Pacific Ocean, bounded by S and N Korea (SW), Russia (N and W), and the islands of Japan (E and S); NE-flowing warm current keeps coastal conditions ice-free as far N as Vladivostok (Russia).

East Sea may refer to:

Sea of Japan, a marginal sea between Korea and Japan. East China Sea, a marginal sea east of China, where it is called Dong Hai (东海/東海). South China Sea, a marginal sea south of China and east and south of Indochina, called Biển Đông in Vietnamese. Baltic Sea, a sea east of the Scandinavian Peninsula and Jutland, in various Germanic languages (e.g., "Ostsee" in German, "Östersjön" in Swedish and "Oostzee" in Dutch).
