Aga Khan II

Imam of the Nizari Ismailite sect of Shiite Muslims. In 1881 he succeeded his father, Aga Khan I, and during his short reign sought to improve the conditions of the community.

Shah Aly Shah Aga Khan II (شاه علي شاه أغا خان الثاني) (c.

He married, in 1867, as his second wife, Nawab A'lia Shamsul-Muluk.

The couple's only child became Aga Khan III.

Aga Khan II was granted a knighthood of the Order of the Indian Empire and won a seat on the legislative council of Bombay.
