FIPRESCI

A federation of national film critic associations founded in 1930 to provide a central source of information and to defend the professional interests of the members. An International Film Critics Award (the FIPRESCI Prize) is presented at selected important film festivals, and Special Awards are made each year to the best film of the year in various categories.

FIPRESCI (short for Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique), in English known as International Federation of Film Critics, comprised of the national organizations of professional film critics and film journalists from around the world for "the promotion and development of film culture and for the safeguarding of professional interests."

The FIPRESCI often gives out awards during film festivals (such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival) to reward what they see as enterprising filmmaking.
