Bottom-living fish of the Indo-Pacific and tropical Atlantic oceans; body slender, length up to 1 m/3¼ ft, flattened anteriorly with prominent spinose fins; important food fish in some areas. (Genera: Platycephalus, Thysanophrys. Family: Platycephalidae.)
