Frank Murphy

Judge, born in Harbor Beach, Michigan, USA. His diverse political career included posts as mayor of Detroit (1930), as governor-general then high commissioner of the Philippines (1933–5), and as US attorney general (1939–40). President Franklin D Roosevelt nominated him to the US Supreme Court (1940–9).
