A bird of the honeyeater family, native to N Australia and the adjacent islands of SE Asia, also known as the leatherhead; songbird with head partly or totally naked (hence its common names); eats fruit, insects, and nectar. (Genus: Philemon, 17 species. Family: Meliphagidae.)
