Judge, born in Prince George's Co, Maryland, USA. He fought in the American Revolution and served the US House of Representatives (Virginia, 17946). He became a judge on the Maryland Supreme Court (17961802) and President Jefferson's comptroller of the treasury (180211) before President Madison appointed him to the US Supreme Court (181135).
