Architect, born in Perugia, C Italy. After studying ancient architecture, he gained a reputation within Europe from his designs for palaces and churches in Genoa and elsewhere. He was a friend of Michelangelo.
Galeazzo Alessi (1512- December 30, 1572) was an Italian architect born and died at Perugia, and trained by Giovan Battista Caporali.
Genoa is indebted to him for a number of its most magnificent palaces, now a part of the World Heritage List, and specimens of his skill may be seen in the churches of San Paolo and Santa Vittoria at Milan, in certain parts of the El Escorial, and in numerous churches and palaces throughout Sicily, Flanders and Germany.
