Grampian

pop (2000e) 548 400; area 8704 km²/3361 sq mi. Former region in NE Scotland, UK; created in 1975, and replaced in 1996 by Moray and Aberdeenshire councils.

Grampian (Roinn a' Mhonaidh in Gaelic) was a local government region of Scotland from 1975 to 1996. It is now divided into the unitary council areas of:

Moray Aberdeenshire City of Aberdeen

The region had five districts:

Aberdeen Banff and Buchan Gordon Kincardine and Deeside Moray

The region took its name from the Grampian Mountains.
