A bulb native to Europe and the Mediterranean region; leaves grass-like, semi-cylindrical; flowers in a dense spike-like inflorescence, drooping, urn-shaped with six small lobes; the blue upper flowers often sterile, brighter-coloured, acting as an extra attractant.
