Alessandro Fortis

Italian politician and prime minister (1905–6), born in Forlì, Emilia-Romagna, N Italy. He took part in a number of military ventures with Garibaldi and then became a leading member of the Republican Party. He served as a deputy (1880), agriculture minister, and prime minister (1905–6).
