Henry Theophilus Finck

Music critic, born in Bethel, Missouri, USA. After studies at Harvard and in Germany, he wrote for newspapers including the New York Evening Post (1881–1924). A notable champion of Wagner and Dvo?ák, he resisted later innovators.

Henry Theophilus Finck (1854-1926) was an American musical critic, born at Bethel, Missouri, and raised in Portland, Oregon, where he was taught piano and violoncello.

He became musical editor of the New York Evening Post in 1881. His writings include:
