An annual or biennial species of cranesbill (Geranium robertianum), growing to 50 cm/20 in; leaves with red stalks, palmately divided into deeply toothed lobes; flowers c.1 cm/0·4 in diameter, pink; fruit beaked; native to temperate Europe, Asia, and N Africa, and introduced elsewhere. (Family: Geraniaceae.)
